Preparation steps

Start by preparing your orange. Cut a half-orange into four segments.
Sprinkle the bottom of a "rocks" glass with fine sugar.
Place the orange segments on top of the sugar.
Use a muddler to firmly press the orange pieces onto the sugar, extracting the juice and mixing it with the sugar.
Fill the glass with the crushed ice cubes.
Gently pour the vodka over the ice.
Stir the mixture with a cocktail spoon for about 8 to 10 seconds.
