Yukiguni: A Traditional Japanese Cocktail

Yukiguni is a traditional Japanese cocktail that epitomizes the adaptability and sophistication of the country's cocktail culture. Inspired by classics, this drink has evolved to suit modern palates, favoring a stronger, less sugary composition. Featuring a balanced mix of vodka, white Curaçao, and lime, Yukiguni offers a refreshing and elegant experience, perfect for cocktail enthusiasts who appreciate both history and innovation in their glass.

Ingredients

  • 1 ounce of vodka
  • ½ ounce of white Curaçao (triple sec)
  • ½ ounce of lime juice
  • 1green maraschino cherry

Preparation steps

  1. Prepare your cocktail glass by giving it a snow-style sugar rim; to do this, cut a lemon (or other citrus) in half and rub the juice side along the outer rim of the glass.
  2. Dip the moistened rim into a dish of sugar so the grains adhere to the glass like snowflakes.
  3. Tap the glass lightly upside down against your palm to shake off excess sugar.
  4. Shake the vodka, white Curaçao, and lime juice in a shaker with ice to chill, then strain into the rimmed glass.
  5. Garnish with a green maraschino cherry.
